Satellite is the operator-facing layer of Luna: Unchained Robotics' three tier robotics software ecosystem. Connecting directly to robot cells configured in Orbiter, it gives factory floor operators everything they need to run, monitor, and respond - with zero programming knowledge required.

Brief
Design a zero-training HMI that puts any operator in control of a fully configured robot cell.
I designed Satellite as the human layer of Luna, connecting directly to Orbiter's configured robot cells, presenting only what the operator needs for robot operation and monitoring, stripped of all engineering complexity.

I designed Satellite as the human layer of Luna, connecting directly to Orbiter's configured robot cells, presenting only what the operator needs for robot operation and monitoring, stripped of all engineering complexity.
Challenge
Escape the engineering trap.
The core challenge: build an interface over an extremely complex system—robot APIs (KUKA, NACHI, Yaskawa, Doosan, Universal Robots), grippers, cameras, conveyors, KPI tracking—without exposing that complexity to the operator. Every error and state needed plain, human language. Operators shouldn't need to understand the system, just what to do next.
Solution
Clarity by design. Complexity by architecture.
Satellite is deliberately limited, not because the system is simple, but because the operator's experience needed to be. Built from Orbiter's configured cell logic, every screen was stripped to its essential function: machine visualisation, speed, pallet levels, status, and errors, all on one clean dashboard needing no engineering knowledge.

Satellite eliminated the dependency on engineering teams for day-to-day robot cell operation across multiple factory environments. Operators with no programming background were able to run, monitor, and respond to robot cell events independently. Configuration time for new product cells, previously measured in weeks of engineering hours, was reduced to hours through the combined Orbiter and Satellite pipeline.
